2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe: The Path to the Future

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

During the last redesign of the Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2022, a new variant appeared on the lineup – the 4xe. This moniker is Jeep's pathway to the future, as the 4xe designation signifies electrification.

Currently, a Jeep model with the "4xe" badge represents a vehicle with an electric range. And this isn't just one green solution among many – it's a full lineup that the 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe offers. You can choose from four trims: 4xe, Trailhawk 4xe, Overland 4xe, and Summit 4xe.

As for the Trailhawk model, you won't find it in any other form. The pinnacle of off-road driving in the lineup is exclusively available as a hybrid. Times are changing for the better.

Regarding the 2024 version, it maintains its strengths while introducing new features for the new year.

For 2024, the Trailhawk model will come standard with new 18-inch black-painted aluminum wheels. The lineup will also include an Anniversary Edition, a continuation of last year's 30th-anniversary edition. This model adds Capri leather, ventilated front seats, wireless charging for mobile devices, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, black accents, and 20-inch wheels.

About the Grand Cherokee's secret, which extends to the 4xe versions, these models can receive two of the three 4x4 systems available in the Grand Cherokee lineup – the Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II. With the latter, you benefit from an electronic limited-slip rear differential, which distributes power to the wheels with traction. A two-speed transfer case and the Select-Terrain management system are also present, which adjusts drivetrain settings based on the surface you're on. The driving modes are Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand. Add the Quadra-Lift air suspension to the mix, and you will enjoy an incredibly comfortable experience no matter where you are.

And beyond all this incredible hardware, what's at the core of the 4xe approach? It involves a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with a 17 kWh battery, all built on a 400-volt architecture. In all-electric mode, the model offers a range of 42 kilometres, enabling you to drive without the combustion engine's input for most of your daily commutes. Moreover, behind the wheel, the driver has three options. The system can operate in a hybrid, full electric, or an economy configuration. This setting allows you to choose where to use your electric km. For instance, you might use the highway's e-Save mode to switch to all-electric propulsion in the city, where fuel consumption tends to be higher.

In short, these are easy options to maximize efficiency.

And we haven’t even talked about all the luxury and commodities you can find inside, as the Grand Cherokee is not just another SUV but an affordable luxury SUV.
